Powered by the expertise of IASO Group, IASO Thessaly’s Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) is one the most modern units in our country with 18-bed capacity and cutting-edge medical equipment, as well as the possibility of uninterrupted monitoring of all neonatal patients.
There are three levels of ICU care (Ι, ΙΙ), i.e. high-, medium- and low-level care, with an isolation room with negative pressure, a room for total parenteral nutrition preparation, a dairy room for the preparation of special milks, a room for breastfeeding, and a specially designed room for monitoring all neonatal inpatients.
The unit is fully equipped with state-of-the-art equipment, capable of monitoring, supporting and dealing with even the most difficult, term and extremely low birth weight premature neonates. The NICU is duly staffed with highly specialized and experienced medical and nursing personnel, according to international standards.
Furthermore, all emergencies and scheduled visits are scientifically managed and treated by competent, experienced and acclaimed medical experts in other sub-specialties (pediatric radiologists-ultrasound specialists, pediatric neurologists, pediatric ophthalmologists, pediatric surgeons, pediatric orthopedics specialists, geneticists, etc).
All neonates can undergo complete parenteral nutrition, where applicable, as well as systematic measurement of administrated drug levels. In addition, by applying the Kangaroo Mother Care method on a regular basis, we sent out our own positive message and we strongly encourage mothers to keep up breastfeeding.
The Unit accommodates all latest technology artificial ventilation machines (such as HFO, NO, SiPAP, nCPAP), monitors connected to central stations, oxymeters, parenteral nutrition pumps, drug infusion pumps, blood products infusion pumps, as well as top-notch ultrasound equipment.
Knowledge, expertise, direct interaction with the staff, scientific assistance and immediate management of neonatal inpatients, along with constant update, encouragement and psychological support provided to parents, constitute the building blocks to ensure the best outcome for pre-term and suffering neonates at the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit of IASO Thessaly.
